During xmas Gajim 0.9 was released. So was gajim 0.9.1 :)
I have made a package for Ubuntu breezy (5.10) and also created a Debian repository.
Please note that I am not an experienced debian packager and all the work has actually been done by the Gajim devs since they write all the scripts used by the deb build programs. If you are brave, please try out these packages and leave a comment.

Just add this to your sources.list (or using synaptics):
deb http://personal.oscarh.net/misc/gajim/ binary/
deb-src http://personal.oscarh.net/misc/gajim/ source/

and do a sudo apt-get update followed by sudo apt-get install gajim
